This DVD is absolutely amazing if your a guitar player, or a die hard Korn fan. Its an in depth look at 2 songs from Korn taught to you by Munky as well as some other extras. It’s fantastic and will make a perfect gift! The only complaint about this DVD is it is hard to follow the moving tab in the “play along” portion. It can’t be slowed down which is something to be able to do when learning a new song. It would also be nice to have written tab included in the booklet so you could follow along more easily and practice without having to run the DVD. Other than that this DVD rocks!

As a whole, the viewer will be guided through a learning experience based on popular studio productions, (even comparing alternate takes and edits), concert adaptations, as well as commentary on rare live video footage. Sternal is very detailed, yet concise so you do not get bored. The content of this DVD would probably take many months to go over with an in-person instructor and cost a fews hundred dollars. He splits the screen and shows you a close-up of his hands while simultaneously displaying the tab notation.
The structure moves chronologically through each song (listed in the description) and is played slowly and the tab is demonstrated in each section to assist learning the piece. Sometimes even bar by bar when necessary. The section(s) are then put together at tempo to give you the example of how it fits in context to the song. The fills and nuances that permeate Randy’s playing are also covered in reasonable detail. This includes all the variations Randy played in the studio recordings, live shows and alternate revision. It would have been nice to actually see a performance of the song from start to finish to get the whole example down. But this is in no way a problem as by the time you complete the song, you should have it down anyway, especially if you play along with the recordings.
Highly recommended if you get stuck on any particular riff/fill/technique or solo that you may be struggling with in your rendition of Randy’s songs. Some of the insights into how Randy played and indeed put the tracks together should help you out.

So if you are wanting to learn some Metallica buy this DVD you will not REGRET IT!

Learn all of the Leads, Rhythms and Fills to popular songs from the albums Van Halen, Van Halen II, Women and Children First, Fair Warning and 1984! A lot of free guitar backing tracks can be downloaded on this site.
This video is what it says it is a breakdown of the songs listed by Van Halen during the best period of the band. It starts by showing you the settings (close enough) to what Eddie used on said song such as distortion, phase, tone, volume, mid’s, etc…, then goes in to braking the song down into “phrases” or riffs if you will played super slow then at half speed. Most of the info could be obtained off youtube or some other fan site, the tabs could be bought and dissected personally – but to have it all in one place already done for you on a whopping 5hr dvd for 25 dollars isn’t too bad really. It was worth the money for the time gained, Mark John Sternal (dude has serious hair not to be f’ed with) does a good job coping Eddie’s tone just wish the tab’s had been included. I mean their showed on screen in clear to read notation I just like hard copies (old fashioned).

Sick of boring, futile attempts at guitar solos? …Or are you just starting, and want to learn to play like your favorite guitarists NOW? Knowing these different chord positions will allow you to be more flexible and create many different voicings, rather than just playing the same group of chords. Take a simple 2-chord progression, like G to C. You can then easily spice things up by moving to higher or lower chord positions— yet you are still playing the same 2 chords, G to C. For example, there’s an open C chord… Moving up the neck, we have a C chord based on an open A shape. Extending from that is a C chord based on an open G shape.
