At a Glance Metal Guitar DVD download with PDF book. Metal is progressive and dynamic, and usually provokes feelings that are therapeutic to the listener. Metal is rock music that has evolved. A type of music characterized by it’s cacophonous wall of sound and accelerated tempo which is achieved through distorted electric guitars playing fast-paced riffs, with the driving drumbeat often utilizing hypersonic double bass rhythms and emphasizing the continuous pumping action, the bass guitar is often playing similar to the guitar, but more with the drums, so as to add to the overall heaviness and depth. It can manifest in many different forms and the spectrum of intensity is usually quite varied. From slow and heavy melodic grooves, to complex and precise blinding rhythms, odd time changes, and sheer brutality.. metal comes in many shapes and sizes. One common trait of metal is to have vocals dealing with dark subject matter, often sung with anger, aggression, and conviction in the form of screaming. Melodic smooth vocals are also accepted. Solos are an integral part of metal music, as the icing on the cake to complement the heavy intensity of the songs and add more depth and individuality. Real metal has a solo in every song, usually scales and arpeggios played with some changes often in 8th, 16th, or 32nd notes.
It has two instructors on the DVD, Troy Stetina and Marcus Henderson both are good. Troy Stetina has a multitude of instructional books, CDs and DVD to his name as for Marcus Henderson he can be found on YouTube.

Volume two in the series of heavy metal favorites proves to be somewhat less difficult than the first. There are still some tough guitar riffs to work on … particularly Dokken’s “It’s Not Love” (featuring George Lynch), which contains an intriguing and sometimes difficult guitar part. The other songs on the video, however, are generally much simpler, and should be relatively easy for intermediate guitarists to learn. Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” and Deep Purple’s “Smoke on the Water” in particular are almost easy to play. Knowledge of power chords, and an ability to palm-mute are really the only requirements for being able to play the tunes on Heavy Metal Vol. 2.
The packaging of Heavy Metal Vol. 2, and all future Song Xpress videos, has changed slightly. The heavy cardboard casing of the video has been altered to include a fold-out cover, on which basic chord diagrams have been included. As of now, the chord diagrams aren’t overly useful, since they’re the same in each edition, and they don’t necessarily pertain to the songs on their videos. In the future, hopefully Song Xpress will create fold-outs that include chord diagrams more specific to the material on the videos. Realistically, though, it’s not necessary, since the videos themselves do a very good job in explaining the songs they present.

This DVD is absolutely amazing if your a guitar player, or a die hard Korn fan. Its an in depth look at 2 songs from Korn taught to you by Munky as well as some other extras. It’s fantastic and will make a perfect gift! The only complaint about this DVD is it is hard to follow the moving tab in the “play along” portion. It can’t be slowed down which is something to be able to do when learning a new song. It would also be nice to have written tab included in the booklet so you could follow along more easily and practice without having to run the DVD. Other than that this DVD rocks!

Metallica Legendary Guitar Licks 1988-1997 DVD download. This follow-up to the “Guitar Legendary Licks 1983-1988” DVD contains the band’s music from the late ’80s and early ’90s. Each riff and solo is played up to speed, then broken down note by note, then played at a slow tempo. This DVD is absolutely excellent. It’s like having your own private guitar teacher teaching you a host of Metallica riffs from 1988-1997 (riffs, licks, fills, & solos) plus tuning (standard, 1/2 step down, and 1 full step down) and Metallica guitar techniques including guitar & amp settings.
Each song’s riffs are done at normal speed, then slowly explained and shown note-by-note, and then played again at slower than normal speed – all with a split view of the fretboard and the string picking at the bridge so that you can see exactly what is happening at all times. The DVD also has a very good menu.
You can replay any section over and over again – which is very easy with a DVD player – until you get it, and then move on. Although it has a companion music book (with CD)1988-1996 Metallica, a DVD picture is worth a thousand words in showing you HOW something is done.
